 Netscape Messenger [ Communicator ]
Starting Up  |  Sending E-mail  |  Getting E-mail  |  Attaching Files
Using Folders  |  ADDRESS BOOK  |  Saving Drafts  |  Toolbars  | Mail Filters

Netscape Messenger includes an address book for storing all your e-mail addresses. When peoples' names and e-mail addresses are entered in your address book, you don't ever need to type out their e-mail addresses when you send them messages. Simply type a person's "nickname" in the To: field of a new message, and Messenger will recognize it before you even finish. The corresponding e-mail address will pop in place when you press the Tab key on your keyboard.

You can also group together entries in your address book as "lists" to facilitate sending messages to more than one person at a time.

Viewing your address book

Click the Communicator menu, then click Address Book. You will see the Address Book window listing all the entries in your address book.

Adding a person's e-mail address

Click the New Card button on the toolbar. Enter the person's first and last names, e-mail address, and a "nickname", then click OK. (The nickname is often a shortened, faster to type, version of the person's name.)

Making a list of entries

Click the New List button on the toolbar. When the Mailing List window appears, type a name and a nickname for your list, then type in the nicknames (separated by pressing the Enter key) of the people in your address book that you want to add to your list.
