Netscape Composer is the component in Netscape Communicator for uploading or publishing your Web pages to the Internet. How you upload your Web pages into a Web directory depends on your Internet service provider. The instructions on this page are for using Netscape Composer to upload Web pages with the Business Internet Web Site Hosting Service.

Before proceeding, check that your preferences for Composer are set correctly.

Publishing a Web page to your Business Internet Web Site

Presuming you have already used Composer to make or edit a Web page on your hard drive, the next step is to make sure you have all the details you need to publish your Web page to the Business Internet Web Site Hosting server.

You will need the following details:

  • Your Business Internet username (the part that precedes the @ in your e-mail address).
  • Your Business Internet password.
  • The publish location (your company's Domain Name, in the form of ftp://www.yourCompany.ca/docs) of your Business Internet Web Site Hosting directory. Replace www.yourCompany.ca with your Custom Domain Name, as established when you ordered the Business Internet service.

Unfortunately, Composer doesn't let you create subdirectories. To create subdirectories you must use separate FTP software, such as WS FTP (for Windows) or Fetch (for Macintosh). You can get FTP software from Tucows (but this software is not supported by Business Internet Member Services).

When you click the Publish button Publish button on the Composer toolbar, you should see a window like this:

Publish Page Window

You should be connected to the Internet before publishing your Web page.

For more detail about using Netscape Composer to publish your Web pages, click Communicator's Help menu, then click Help Contents to view Communicator's program help.
