Print this page (or have a friend print it) to have it at hand when you follow these instructions, since you'll have to be disconnected from the Internet to do so.
- Click Start, click Programs, click Accessories, click Communications, then click Dial-up Networking.
- Locate and right-click (do not double-click) the dial-up icon icon, and click Properties.
- Type the area code for your dialing location in the Area code box.
- Ensure that Use country code and area code is checked.
- Click OK.
- Double-click the dial-up icon. In the Connect window, click the Dial Properties button.
- In the Dialing Properties window, select Canada in the I am in this country/region menu, and type the area code for the dial-up number in the Area code box.
- Click the Area Code Rules button.
- In the Area Code Rules window, check Always dial the area code (10 digit dialing).
- If the area code of the dial-up location is different from the area code of your location, then do the following:
In the When calling to other area codes section, click the New button and type the area code of the dial-up location, then click OK.
- Click OK, then click OK again.
